Our ability to impact the environment is not taken lightly.
We at MSD remain dedicated to being environmentally responsible in how we manufacture our medicines and vaccines. And we work hard to reduce our environmental impact through stewardship of natural resources like water, by conserving energy and also by appropriately eliminating waste. We do so because it is consistent with our values as a good corporate citizen and because it makes good business sense.
We also go beyond the direct impact of our business to positively influence the environment. Our main way of doing so is through financial support of non-governmental organisations and their local partners to protect ecological resources around the world.
In Australia, our commitment to the environment includes:
- Having a commitment to reducing energy and greenhouse gas emissions, participating in the worldwide MSD Energy Reduction Initiatives Team and ensuring we have a strategic plan for energy conservation and best practice
- Ensuring the Trade Waste Treatment Plant is operated to a high standard with exceptional treatment efficacy of waste stream from operating activities. MSD also maintains its gardens by using recycled water
- Planning for the responsible management of the rare bushland on the South Granville site. This bushland is listed on the Threatened Species Act and MSD is committed to preserving this environment
- Supporting the objectives and goals of the Australian Packaging Covenant by becoming a signatory
